Crafternoon

I never thought I would say that I loved crafts. I failed cutting and scissors in kindergarten, a skill which I still haven't really mastered. When I thought about crafts, I usually thought about tacky doily things your grandma had in her bathroom. I thought of all the art projects I tried and failed in my life: about how frustrated I would get when the paper wouldn't fold right or the glue wouldn't stick. Crafting filled my heart with dread.

That was then, this is now. I had the privilege of meeting Hayley Pingree, New York native and housewife extraordinaire of the Pingree Penthouse. After talking a few times in the newsroom, she literally got down on her knees and asked me to come to "Crafternoon" (That's what I love about Hayl. She will get down on her knees and ask you to hang out. She also has a way of saying "I'm OBSESSED with you" that makes you feel like a million bucks).

So now I find myself a few months later wondering where I can get my hands on a decent glue gun. Or thinking of all the possible uses of glitter. It's Friday night and I have marthastewart.com open. I kick myself for not having a sewing machine and I recently shelled out $10 for some vintage scrapbook paper. Hayley has created a monster.

Hayley's craft box. I'm so jealous.

Tonight for crafternoon, we made little Valentine's Day gifts. We took teabags and attached some baker's twine and added a cute note. Then we wrapped them up in homemade wrapping paper (cutout hearts stuck between two sheets of wax paper and ironed together) and tied them with bows. It was easy enough and required little to no advanced scissor skills (luckily).
