500 Days of Summer

I love 500 Days of Summer, it's so artsy and cute. The story's very interesting, definitely not your typical chick flick. I found this little gem on YouTube. It's by the same director as the movie. It' kind of compliments the movie, don't you think?

  1. I really liked this dance! It was cute and I really like Zooey Deschanel's bluesy, billie holiday voice. I wish she would release an album because I would buy it and probably listen to it over and over for months.

Are you going to hate me if I told you that I didn't like this movie? Yes, I liked it visually because of all of the fashion and design. Also I kind of liked all of the hipster music involved in the movie. However, I do feel like they tried too hard. It was too "hip". It was like they picked a stereotype of a group of people and thought, we need to cater every detail towards this stereotype whether it is founded or not. It made me mad at Zooey Deschanel because of how casually her character took sex. One night she was just naked in his bed. I know, I know, she didn't write the script....Also, I go to movies to get happy. Yep, I just said get happy. And this movie made me mad. I know they wouldn't have been happy together, but it is a movie! Yep, I like the happy endings. Like i said, I did love the movie visually though. I guess I fit into the stereotype that they were catering towards. I am the oddball. i know most people loved it.

    Also, longest comment ever.

  2. Wow, Natalie. I never thought about it that way. The characters were pretty stereotypical. I don't think there are people as hipster-esque as them. I liked the non-happy ending, though. But yes, ew on Zooey Deschanel awkwardly naked in his bed. And thanks for the longest comment ever, I liked it :)

  3. I like the movie mainly because one of the main themes is "nice guys don't always win." Most romantic comedies always end up with the romantic protagonist winning out over the jerk that treats the girl like a Muslim in Mississippi. In the real world, when a girl decides she doesn't like you, it's final. Any further romantic attempts to win her heart usually end with a police chase, not a wedding scene.
